functional mushrooms
functional or medicinal mushrooms are a category of edible, non psychedelic mushrooms proven to have a variety of positive health benefits. they improve focus, cognitive function, immunity, improve energy levels, promote healthy sleep, regulate stress, and aid in recovery*. humans have had a relationship with mushrooms for centuries. in fact, depictions of mushrooms have been seen in ancient cave dwellings! while the ancients did not have the scientific breakdown of each mushroom’s beneficial components, they continued to use those in which they noticed a desirable effect. we are still using some of those same species today.
